Music Therapy for children in Vaughan
What is Music Therapy?
At Bright Futures Health, we offer music psychotherapy (often referred to as music therapy for children in Vaughan) as a creative, engaging, and evidence-informed approach to supporting children and teens with their emotional, social, and developmental well-being. Through the use of music, clients can express themselves, build coping skills, and strengthen emotional regulation in a way that feels natural, safe, and meaningful.
Virtual music psychotherapy sessions are available across Ontario, offering flexible access to care for families who prefer or require support from home.
Families may seek support for a range of reasons—whether there are specific concerns such as anxiety, behaviour, or emotional expression, or a desire to support overall mental health and resilience. All services are provided by a Registered Psychotherapist in accordance with the standards of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).

What Makes Music Psychotherapy Different?
Many parents search for “music therapy” when looking for support. Music psychotherapy goes beyond simply listening to music — it is a regulated psychotherapy service that uses music intentionally within a therapeutic relationship.
Common questions we hear:
Is music psychotherapy the same as music lessons?
No — sessions are not about learning an instrument. Instead, music is used as a tool for expression, communication, and emotional processing.
How does music help with emotional regulation?
Music can support co-regulation, provide structure, and offer a safe outlet for expressing feelings that may be difficult to put into words.
Is this helpful if my child doesn’t like talking?
Yes — music psychotherapy is especially effective for children who benefit from non-verbal or play-based approaches.
Is this considered therapy”?
Yes — sessions are provided by a Registered Psychotherapist who is also a Certified Music Therapist (MTA), accredited through the Canadian Association of Music Therapists. Services follow CRPO standards for safe, ethical, and evidence-informed care.
What to Expect
Each session is thoughtfully individualized based on your child’s needs and goals. A combination of structured and creative interventions may include music-making, movement, and guided interaction to support emotional expression, connection, and skill-building.
We focus on creating a supportive environment where children feel comfortable, understood, and empowered — while also working toward meaningful, tangible progress over time.
